Biography

Emma is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA). She serves as a graduate intern in the Office of Student Learning. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Iowa in 2026. In her role, Emma helps students both in and out of the classroom. She assists with overseeing, teaching, and supporting the undergraduate Learning Assistants (LAs).

As an undergrad, Emma gained valuable experience being a part of Iowa’s First Gen Hawks program and eventually, working as a student employee for the program. Emma has also worked for the Center for Teaching as a Student Pedagogical Partner and for the TRIO-Upward Bound summer program as a Resident Mentor. All her prior experience has cultivated a significant passion for creating spaces where students feel safe to show up authentically!

Emma is excited to gain valuable experience as a graduate intern. Post-grad, she’ll be looking for a job and is interested in working for Academic Support, Bridge programs, or Study Abroad.

Outside of the office, you’ll probably find Emma planning her next trip, trying out new restaurants, or visiting the cats at the Haunted Bookshop in downtown Iowa City!
