OSL staff provide training and serve as consultants to leaders, offices, departments, or units that are looking for support, perspective, or resources as it relates to student learning, academic support, and the academic success of undergraduate students. Some of the common consulting topics are ways to implement best practices to meet strategic plan priorities and tactics. All of our work is actionable, evidence-based, and data-informed.

Academic Success Workshops

OSL facilitates academic workshops focusing on a variety of topics that are available to student groups, student organizations, university departments, and course instructors. Each interactive workshop is about 45-60 minutes and can be requested through Tutor Iowa or the below link.

Consultations

OSL staff serve as consultants to campus leaders, staff, and faculty to support the learning and success of undergraduate students. OSL will listen to your needs and work with you to implement strategic priorities and tactics that are actionable, evidence-based, and data-informed practices.

Tutor Certification Program

The Tutor Certification Program provides professional development workshops and recognition for campus tutors. Workshops cover a variety of topics and change each semester. Students who tutor for two semesters, attend the New Tutor Training Day foundational training, and attend four workshops receive a certificate for their dedication to professional development and supporting peers through their tutoring services.

Academic Support Collaborative

The Academic Support Collaborative invites campus academic support center supervisors to connect and foster campus partnerships, discuss campus academic support offerings, and continue to share resources and support.
