GENERAL CHEMISTRY I (CHEM:1070)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- One of the following must be met:
- Received a B or higher in CHEM:1070 (if currently completing the course, the LA offer will be contingent on receiving a B or higher)
- Received a B or higher in CHEM:1110
- Received a B or higher in CHEM:1120
- UI Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
TIME REQUIREMENTS
- Attend pre-semester Learning Assistant Training on January 15th
- Attend your assigned lectures to facilitate activities (three, 50-minute lectures per week):
- Lectures occur TTh 8:00-9:15 AM
- Attend a prep-meeting with your faculty member (once-a-week, 50-minutes):
- Meetings occur M 1:30-2:20 PM
- Attend a meeting with a program supervisor (once-a-month, 20-minutes):
- Meetings will be scheduled individually with a program supervisor
- Learning Assistants should anticipate spending 4-6 hours a week in this role
GENERAL CHEMISTRY II (CHEM:1080)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- One of the following must be met:
- Received a B or higher in CHEM:1080 (if currently completing the course, the LA offer will be contingent on receiving a B or higher)
- Received a B or higher in BMB:3110
- Received a B or higher in BMB:3120
- Received a C+ or higher in CHEM:2210
- Received a C+ or higher in CHEM:2220
- Received a C+ or higher in CHEM:2230
- Received a C+ or higher in CHEM:2240
- UI Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
TIME REQUIREMENTS
- Attend pre-semester Learning Assistant Training on January 15th

- Attend a meeting with a program supervisor (once-a-month, 20-minutes):
- Meetings will be scheduled individually
- Learning Assistants should anticipate spending 4-6 hours a week in this role
