MATH FOR THE BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES (MATH:1550)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- One of the following must be met:
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH:1550 (if currently completing the course, the LA offer will be contingent on receiving a B+ or higher)
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH 1850
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH 1560
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH 1860
- Completion of 2000+ level MATH courses
- UI Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
TIME REQUIREMENTS
- Attend pre-semester Learning Assistant Training
- Attend your assigned lectures to facilitate activities (three, 50-minute lectures per week):
- Lectures occur MWF 9:30-10:20 AM
- Attend a prep-meeting with your faculty member (bi-weekly, 50-minutes):
- Meetings occur every other M 11:30 AM-12:20 PM
- Attend a meeting with a program supervisor (once-a-month, 20-minutes):
- Meetings will be scheduled individually
- Learning Assistants should anticipate spending 4-6 hours a week in this role

- Received a B+ or higher in MATH:1560 (if currently completing the course, the LA offer will be contingent on receiving a B+ or higher)
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH 1850
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH 1860
- Completion of 2000+ level MATH courses
