MATH POSITIONS FOR FIRST-TIME APPLICANTS

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Attend pre-semester Learning Assistant Training
Attend your assigned lectures to facilitate activities (three, 50-minute lectures per week):
- Lectures occur MWF 9:30-10:20 AM
Attend a prep-meeting with your faculty member (bi-weekly, 50-minutes):
- Meetings occur every other M 11:30 AM-12:20 PM
Attend a pedagogy course covering topics such as metacognition, effective study strategies, and creating inclusive learning environments (once-a-week, 75-minutes):
- Course occurs W 3:30-4:45 PM W or Th 2:00-3:15 PM
Learning Assistants should anticipate spending 4-6 hours a week in this role

One of the following must be met:
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH:1560 (if currently completing the course, the LA offer will be contingent on receiving a B+ or higher)
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH 1850
- Received a B+ or higher in MATH 1860
- Completion of 2000+ level MATH courses
UI Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
